Martin Ortiz was born in Mexico, grew up in San Diego, California, and has lived in New York City for the past ten years. He has been a tutor for over six years, specializing in Spanish, English, mathematics, and physics, as well as a variety of standardized tests (SSAT, ISEE, SHSAT, SAT, ACT).

Martin earned both a BFA and MFA from New York University, where he studied acting and physics, and enjoys combining his passions for the humanities and sciences in his work. His tutoring philosophy centers on fostering curiosity, ensuring that students go beyond simply memorizing material to understand the ‘why’ and ‘how’ behind the subjects at hand.

When not tutoring, Martin works as an actor on both stage and screen. He also enjoys playing music, building computers, playing video games, and reading about history.
