Elementary School

Rachel has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and is a NYS and Washington, DC certified classroom teacher. All her jobs have been working with children in some capacity, starting with Sunday School and Hebrew tutoring when she was in high school.

This is Rachel’s sixth year in the classroom. She has experience working with children from Pre-K to high school, including English language learners and students with learning disabilities or other special needs. Rachel is also very knowledgeable about the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Rachel has tutored students in many subjects and has provided small group learning opportunities, such as facilitating a group of first graders that met to play math games and extend their skills.

Rachel loves working with students one-on-one to really get to know them and help build their self-confidence and academic skills. She enjoys planning creative lessons and activities to help students learn and see the material in new ways. She believes that learning should be engaging and fun and loves the opportunities that tutoring provides to really personalize instruction. The best moments are when a student faces a new challenge with the confidence that they can figure it out.

In her free time, Rachel enjoys hiking, knitting, reading, and exploring the city. She loves a challenge and is always trying out new crafty hobbies.
